Office Vacancy Information
Shinagawa developed as the first stop on the Tokaido Highway, the busiest of the five highways in the Edo period (1603-1867), and the many high-rise hotels in the Takanawa area today are said to be a remnant of this development.
Although Shinagawa has an image of many warehouses and factories, large-scale redevelopment has led to the construction of office buildings in various areas, including the Shinagawa Station area, the Oosaki and Gotanda areas, and the area has grown into a business center where many of Japan's leading companies have their headquarters.
The Shinagawa-Konan area has made a particularly significant leap forward. The area used to be used as a freight station, and used to be deserted compared to the Takanawa area on the other side of Shinagawa Station. In recent years, however, stylish high-rise office buildings have sprung up in the area, and with the concentration of restaurants and other businesses in the neighborhood, the area has transformed into a sophisticated office district.
The Shinagawa area is served by JR lines, the Tokaido Shinkansen, and the Keihin Electric Express Railway, and Haneda and Narita airports can be reached in about 20 minutes from Shinagawa Station alone. The area also boasts excellent transportation convenience, with an extensive network of buses running to major cities. The location is convenient for both the Shinkansen bullet train and airplanes, making it a popular base for regional headquarters in Tokyo.
In addition, the area is focused on creating spaces that take advantage of the waterfront scenery, and office buildings can enjoy the greenery and nature, including the trees along the streets.
